Michael S. Hayworth, Esq.
Mr. Hayworth is a Florida native who grew up in Brevard County, and is one of the initial founding partners of the law firm. Mr. Hayworth graduated cum laude and third in his Stetson law school class of 1984 after graduating summa cum laude and first in his class at the University of Central Florida.
Mr. Hayworth spent six years with the law firm of Fowler, White, Gillen, Boggs, Villareal & Banker, P.A. before moving back to Melbourne to form the law firm of Hayworth, Chaney, & Sinclair P.A. In 1995 the law firm became Hayworth & Chaney P.A., and as of January 1, 2006, the law firm grew to Hayworth, Chaney, & Thomas P.A.
Mr. Hayworth actively litigates cases involving catastrophic injuries, personal and financial, and wrongful death claims on behalf of the victims. These cases include vehicular collision, product liability, medical negligence, trucking catastrophe, railroad catastrophe, airline catastrophe, drug companies, insurance fraud, business fraud, environmental injury and others. Mr. Hayworth has secured significant recoveries on behalf of his clients.
Glen E. Chaney, Esq.
Mr. Chaney co-founded the law firm in 1989 after practicing personal injury defense and general litigation for several Central Florida law firms. Mr. Chaney's practice currently focuses on serious automobile accidents, truck accidents, professional malpractice, nursing home abuse and neglect, and estate planning and probate matters. Mr. Chaney has secured significant recoveries on behalf of his clients, while representing hundreds of clients.
Mr. Chaney grew up in Wilmington, Delaware. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Economics and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration University of North Carolina, graduating Magna Cum Laude in 1982. Mr. Chaney attended Law School at Stetson University College of Law receiving his Juris Doctor with various honors in 1985. Mr. Chaney is a member of the Academy of Florida Trial Lawyers, the Florida Bar Association, the Brevard County Bar Association, the Indian River County Bar Association, the United States District Court (Middle District of Florida), and Attorneys Title Insurance Fund and Omicron Delta Epsilon (Nation Economic Honor Society).
Stephen C. Thomas, Esq.
Mr. Thomas is a partner of the law firm who joined as an associate attorney in 2003 after working more than twenty years for Harris Corporation in Melbourne, Florida as an engineer and manager. Prior to working for Harris, Mr. Thomas worked for several years with Control Laser Corporation in Orlando, Florida. Mr. Thomas holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the Florida Institute of Technology. He graduated magna cum laude and valedictorian of his law school class at Barry University's Dwayne A. Andreas School of Law. Mr. Thomas was a member of the Moot Court Board while in law school.
Mr. Thomas is a registered U.S. patent attorney and is a member of the Florida Bar Association and is admitted to practice before the Federal District Court for the Middle District of Florida, the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals, and the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. He is a member of the Brevard and Indian River County Bar Associations. Mr. Thomas is also a member of the Trial Lawyers and Business Law sections of the Florida Bar Association.
Mr. Thomas practices civil litigation and intellectual property law including patent and trademark application, copyright law, infringement litigation, business law, and other related matters. Mr. Thomas also practices litigation in matters related to personal injury.
Robert A. Lynch, Esq.
Mr. Lynch joined the law firm as an associate attorney in 2006 after working as a Patent Examiner with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office in Alexandria, Virginia. Prior to working for U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, Mr. Lynch worked as a patent attorney in Fairfax, Virginia. Mr. Lynch graduated magna cum laude and holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from the University of Massachusetts. While attending law school at Franklin Pierce Law Center, Mr. Lynch attained both a Juris Doctor degree and a Master of Intellectual Property degree.
Mr. Lynch is a registered U.S. patent attorney and is a member of the Florida Bar Association, the Virginia Bar Association, and the District of Columbia Bar Association and is also admitted to practice before the Federal District Court for the Middle District of Florida, the Federal District Court for the Southern District of Florida, and the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. He is a member of the Brevard County Bar Association, Brevard County Young Lawyers Division, the American Bar Association, and the American Intellectual Property Law Association.
Mr. Lynch specializes in intellectual property law including patent and trademark applications, copyright law, infringement litigations, aspects of business law, and other related matters. Mr. Lynch also practices civil litigation in matters related to civil disputes and personal injury.
Kelly G. Swartz, Esq.
Ms. Swartz is an associate with the law firm. She joined the firm after working in industry for five years as an electrical engineer. She was previously employed by Harris Corporation and GE Harris Harmon Railway Technologies, LLC developing and testing hardware and firmware for aeronautic and railway applications. Ms. Swartz holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering with high honors from the University of Florida and a Juris Doctor magna cum laude from Barry University School of Law.
Ms. Swartz is a registered U.S. patent attorney and is a member of the Florida Bar Association. She is also admitted to practice before the Federal District Court for the Middle District of Florida and the Federal District Court for the Southern District of Florida.
